Remembrance Day - 100th Anniversary

The Chapel of the Cross will hold a Service of Remembrance and Morning Prayer to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War (1918-2018). We will honor the fallen from all wars, and pay tribute to veterans and active duty military and their families.

The service will feature:

+ Lessons and hymns from the November 17, 1918 service at Westminster Abbey in London, England (the first service at the Abbey after the signing of the Armistice Treaty on November 11)

+ At 11:00am, our bell will peal 21 times, and a moment of silence will be observed (part of the Bells of Peace initiative by the national World War One Centennial Commission: https://www.worldwar1centennial.org/)

+ Invitation to vets and active duty service men & women to stand as we applaud them in recognition and thanks for their service*

+ Live music (organ, choir, bugler)

+ Recitation of "In Flanders Fields" (by John McCrae) and "For the Fallen" (by Lawrence Binyon)

+ Distribution of poppy pins

+ Collection for local veterans charities

Visitors are invited to stay for refreshments after the service and to browse historical and personal memorabilia from veterans and their families.

* Service men & women are invited to dress in uniform and/or wear their service medals, as we honor them and give thanks for their service.

Holy Week: Easter Vigil, Exsultet, Baptismal Vow Renewal

In the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil we anticipate and celebrate the coming of the first light of the Resurrection on Easter Morning.  During this service the ancient Easter proclamation, the Exsultat, is sung.

On this day it is also the historic tradition of the Church to baptize new members of the Church who have been preparing for this day during the season of Lent.  Those already baptized renew their baptismal vows in this service.

Rogation Sunday with Procession

Join the procession as we "beat the bounds" of the parish property on Rogation Day and pray God's blessing and protection in the coming year.

O LORD, from whom all good things do come: Grant to us thy humble servants, that by thy holy inspiration we may think those things that be good, and by thy merciful guiding may perform the same; through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.
